Solar Plexus is the region around our abdomen where all our digestive tract is situated, it contains all the digestive organs. Having a block in this region will result in physical blocks during digestion and can also be the cause of the “butterflies in your stomach” basically your gut feeling trying to send you a message
Often feeling “butterflies in the stomach”
Liver problems (which could show up on the skin as jaundice)
Lack of self confidence
Highly judgemental of others – because you are so critical of yourself
You may also someone who is very attached to labels. Corporate labels such as your title as well as material labels such as brands as you feel these validate your worth.
Body dysmorphia or anoxeria or bulimia
What causes the block
This was most likely caused in childhood when someone told you not to be boastful or too loud and proud of your achievements. This made you shell up and become very critical and judgemental of yourself. It can also stem from bullying or even people complimenting you on something that you are very self conscious of (your curvy figure for example)
How to clear the block
The block stems from self image and self worth/validation so to clear it involves a lot of self introspection. Understanding your worth is key but also understanding that what others say about you is a merely a reflection of their own personal dialogue and has very little to do with you.
Self care practice
This is good for all blockages, but for solar plexus chakra block in particular – start your journal with:
“Today, how I see myself is as follows…It is important to me to carry these self values because… The first time I remember someone sayingthat this trait/attribute is special was… That person’s words inspired me to go into a field of…”
Solar Plexus meditation involves boosting one’s self confidence through affirmations. Re-affirm your worth through guided meditations on confidence
Nature is great source of healing, spend as much time in the sun as possible and use this time for self reflection
Post affirmations on your lock screen, on your computer/desk and wherever they are most impactful
5. Mirror Work
All the words that you wish to hear from someone, say them to yourself. The more you believe them to be true, the more you will raise your vibration to meet someone who also sees your worth.
6. Gut Health
Gut Health is linked to mental health. There is a lot of good information online about thelink between gut health and mental health. Some really good options to improve your gut health are herbal teas and vinegars such as Kombucha and Beet Kvass. A cost effective option is to use plain Apple Cider Vinegar and this to your morning tea – remove any dairy and sugar from your teas to have the maximum health effect. My morning routine is to have one cup of plain boiled water. Then I have some fruits and a tea for breakfast. My favourites to use are apple cider vinegar in a hot cup of water as well as herbal teas such as ginger and lemon, cocoa tea and kombucha. I also have a detox drink at least once a month or every two weeks if possible of activated charcoal in water. If you’re fasting or doing clean detox, the activated charcoal works wonders to clean out the gut during your fast.
7. Speak to a healer
Find a healer you can trust to guide you through the process. Do your homework and look at different types of healers available and connect with the one that makes the most sense for you.
The shadow work involved with this block is inner child healing. Re-parenting yourself as an adult is an insightful and empowering practice. Below are some tips on what to read and watch for more personal research
Michael Beckwith – Finding Your Purpose. My all time favourite Masterclass to do. I literally watch Michael Beckwith at least once a week, I love how simply he frames the message of finding your purpose and aligning to your calling. All the answers are within you. It seems as if his masterclass is not openly available online anymore. You can still watch the video’s on You Tube – just search Michael Beckwith Finding Your Purpose
There’s so much on offer for this topic. Our favourites are:
The information can be overwhelming. The key is to keep it simple and use what is most manageable for you. In general, as humans we do not get enough fluids in our system and most drinks as well as foods contain way too much artificial sugar. Work on upping your fluid intake with plain water or herbal tea and try cutting back on artificial sugar in a manageable way
I am Maris. Beautiful story of a young girl who struggled to find her identity and suffered from anxiety from an early age. Yoga becomes her outlet to express herself
What The Health. This isn’t really about the gut-mental health topic, it’s more about how society has affected the way we observe what is important for our health. It’s really interesting how the role of marketing certain produce has made us believe we need those “nutrients” in our bodies.
