How to Heal: Root Chakra
Root Chakra – Red
This is our first and most basic chakra. If you see red during your chakra meditation, this means the root chakra is where you are experiencing a block.
Physical signs of root chakra blocks
Lower back pain
Dizzy headiness, fainting (not being stable)
Emotional and non-physical signs of root chakra blocks
Not feeling stable – especially financially (when I see red is when I have money blocks)
Not finding your purpose in life
Fear based actions – work hard so that you aren’t poor (fear of not attaining abundance)
Sabotage relationships for fear of being hurt
Root blocks are caused by just that – our roots. If you do not have a good connection with your bloodline/ancestors or current parents, this is where it will manifest.
How to clear the block
There are several practices to clear a root chakra block, the first step will be for you to understand where the blockage was caused in your own life. Is it from your parental relationships or does it go further through your family tree. Do you know of any family members who were spiritually gifted and were not allowed to practice? They could be trying to reach out through you. Generally these spirit guides and loving and do not want to scare you. You will have to learn how to contact them peacefully and resolve the root blocks through your connection with them.
Self Care Practice
This is good for all blockages, but for a root chakra block in particular – start your journal with:
“Today, what I fear most is… I think this stems from… The first time I remember feeling this way is….”
Do some root clearing meditation once you have become more in tune with the cause of the block.
Also consider meditations on ancestral connection and making connections with your spirit guides. You can search on YouTube for topics such as root chakra clearing meditation or ancestral meditation or use apps such as Insight Timer for those topics.
This is really important for root blocks! Get into nature and experience sunshine, wind, water as much as possible. If you are currently in a cold season, add the fourth element of fire through candles or incense whilst you are outside.
This is the most important practice for a root chakra block. Ground yourself through a meditation practice and by placing your feet bare onto the natural earth. By pulling up source energy from the earth into your body you then deepen your grounding practice.

Inner Child Healing – this is the process of going back to the moment as a child when you first encountered an emotional block. You can do this through meditation or through hypnosis. As adults, we carry a lot of our trauma many years down the line. This can be anything from insidious, snide remarks about our weight or attitude to physical and emotional abuse. Essentially, we have to go back to the time where we first experienced this and heal that child.
An effective way to start your inner child healing is through a hypnotherapy session by Marissa Mayer. The Masterclass is free and 90 minutes long, definitely worth every minute.
It’s a dense read, if you’re on the go consider downloading the audio book. Tolle talks about how we are all energy bodies and how a blockage in this energy will turn us into a pain body. It’s really interesting and a great perspective on viewing ourselves holistically
